G3-PLC Alliance at Asian Utility Week 2019
G3-PLC Alliance attends the upcoming Asian Utility Week from 3rd to 4th September in Kuala Lumpur. Asia is a fast-growing market for smart grid technology and G3-PLC is subject to increasing interest as solution for smart grid and smart metering communication in Asian countries. On the two exhibition days as silver sponsor at Asian Utility Week, the G3-PLC Alliance demonstrates the utilization and advantages of G3-PLC.
Applications and showcase of products
Millions of G3-PLC devices are on field today and this will get much more in the coming years. The demands placed on data communication in the smart electricity grids are steadily increasing due to digitalization and renewable energies. Projects using G3-PLC mainly focus on smart metering. Other use cases range from applications in street lighting, home energy management systems and electrical vehicle charging to railway communication. A selection of certified products from alliance members will be showcased at the Asian Utility Week booth.
The importance of interoperability
Interoperability is an important asset of G3-PLC systems. The G3-PLC Alliance operates a global certification program to assure the correct implementation of the G3-PLC standards and to facilitate interoperability between all the adopters of the G3-PLC standard. Certification covers chipsets and a wide range of G3-PLC products. The G3-PLC Alliance has certified over 300 devices from almost 50 different manufacturers in 25 countries so far. A demonstration suitcase allowing to perform a realistic demonstration of a G3-PLC based metering system with rollout and operation, PLC network characterization, certification and field diagnosis will be demonstrated at the booth.
G3-PLC Alliance members feature two speaking slots at this year's Asian Utility Week giving insights in current and future G3-PLC applications. Cédric Chauvenet, PLC Manager at Enedis, speaks on the first day at the Knowledge Hub Digital Energy about "Building grid services over 35 Millions of Smart Meters using PLC: Feedback from a DSO". On the first day as well Nabil Sahri, VP Business Development at Sagemcom Energy & Telecom, has a speaking slot at the Summit Race to the edge. The title is "Getting right the communication backbone to address today and tomorrow’s Smart Grid applications".
G3-PLC Alliance will be found at booth AC10. For appointment requests please contact Leon Vergeer by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
G3-PLC is a protocol for narrow band low frequency powerline communications. G3-PLC facilitates high-speed, highly-reliable, long-range communication over the existing powerline grid. With the ability to cross transformers, infrastructure costs are reduced and with its support of IPv6, G3-PLC will support powerline communications into the future.
About the G3-PLC Alliance
The G3-PLC Alliance was formed in order to support, promote and implement G3-PLC in smart grid applications. Its members come from the key stakeholders in the smart grid ecosystem. The objectives of the G3-PLC Alliance consortium are to support G3-PLC in internationally recognized standards bodies to achieve the rapid adoption of G3-PLC specification worldwide and to develop a framework for equipment testing to facilitate interoperability among adopters. Moreover, the Alliance educates the market and promotes the value, benefits and applications of G3-PLC.
